A classmate of Bella's, and Bella's first friend in Forks, she filled Bella in on the Cullens on her first day at school. Bella often forgot her name during the first few days of school. She tends to be more interested in Bella's popularity than Bella's actual character, and is sometimes jealous of Mike's affections toward Bella. She also took both Spanish and Trig with Bella during their Junior year.
She is revealed in the first chapter of Midnight Sun to have only befriended Bella to also receive the attention, as well as to be able to strike a conversation (about Bella) with Mike Newton who was curious about Bella. Midnight Sun also revealed that she had once had an infatuation for Edward Cullen, something that annoyed Edward intensely. He was more interested in Bella and was irritated when Jessica would think mean things about her. It was revealed that Jessica was actually quite spiteful toward Bella although when Edward rescued Bella from the men in the alleyway, Edward warms to Jessica when he reads her thoughts and it is revealed she was concerned about Bella's absence. Jessica became a more minor character throughout the series as she became friendly with Lauren Mallory (a character not in the movie) and Bella drifted away from her. Though, Jessica and Bella made up at graduation and she was a guest at Bella and Edward's wedding...
